All Around Herdsire... Those are the words that come to mind when I look at Zamir.
He has it all! Great pedigree, fineness coupled with fabulous density and uniformity of micron. These traits culminate in a fleece with an absolutely beautiful expression of character. Zamir also has spot on conformation, and carries himself with the presence that we all seek in a herdsire. His sire, Accoyo America Kashmir has done himself proud with this son!
Sired by Accoyo America Kashmir, by Nautilus. If you've watched many of the recent alpaca auctions over the past couple of years, you undoubtedly have noticed that nearly all of the Kashmir offspring fetch prices in the high end of the list. Just the fact that Kashmir is being used in the Accoyo America breeding program, given that his genetics are prevalent in their herd, is testament to the quality of this young male, and how much confidence they have in his ability to impact the industry.
His dam, Greener Pasture's Zinnia is a daughter of Maple Brook Pirelli, by Bueno. Zinnia is a result of three generations of Crescent Moon Ranch's breeding program, dating back to pairing Blanca's Princess with Legacy, and we all know the huge impact their breeding program has had on the industry over the years.
When you part his fleece, the first thing you notice is how easily it parts, and then his brightness, WOW! I attribute this brightness to his uniformity of micron and a high degree of staple development. He has faired well in the show ring, and one common theme in the judges comments is his uniformity of micron.
A lot of factors make up a great alpaca, and Crescent Moon's Zamir is exceptional in many of these factors, with no weaknesses. An all around alpaca, by definition.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, very true. But every day when I look at this male, I just don't see much I would change about him. He is very true to type, with an appealing head, maintaining that Accoyo look, nice topline, straight legged with good substance of bone, and a good bite.
A male like this can improve upon just about any conformational flaw that a female may present.
